COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT HAYLAGE
Generally, FeedRight haylage should have a sweat/vinegary aroma to it.
The Rhodes haylage will be a dark emerald colour if the moisture is high, and a lighter colour if the moisture is low.
And the lucerne haylage will be all shades of brown.
Remember if it smells good, it is good.
Take the plastic wrap of and cover the bale with either a hessian bag or day rug.
The idea is to keep the bale fresh by keeping the moisture in.
Remember the microbes cannot survive if the haylage dries out.
The hindgut is already full of microbial activity. If we can present FeedRight fibre rich with microbes, the hindgut is boosted as it is able to function just the way it should. Because of this digestibility will increase, along nutrient uptake.
Once the wrap has been removed the haylage will last 3-7 days in summer, and 7-10 days in winter.
Remember FeedRight haylage is alive with microbes and can therefore spoil if advice from ‘Frequently asked Questions’ isn’t followed.

Because you are now feeding a partially fermented fibre, digestibility has now increased up to >90%.
This simply means now your performance horse is retaining more nutrition and therefore does not need to eat as much.
Yes it is perfectly ok to feed to your horses. These white blotches are actually microbial excrement which will have only a positive impact on hind gut health.
This part of the haylage has spoiled.
Simply remove this part of the product.
If the rest of the bale still smells good, it is good.
Yes it is safe to feed your horse. Remember if it smells good it is good. That warming suggests the bale hasn’t quite finished the process of fermentation. This can happen if the bale is fed out anytime from harvest, through to 2 – 4 weeks.
